Charlotte Film Festival to take Iranian ‘Exam’

The 2020 Charlotte Film Festival in the US is to present Iran’s ‘Exam’.

The 2020 edition of the Charlotte Film Festival (CFF) in the US has set to screen Iranian short flick ‘Exam’.

Directed by Sonia Haddad, the short film narrates the story of a girl named Sadaf who has forebodings for the exam she is going to take.

But today, instead of going to school, she delivers a package of illegal drugs to a client and gets caught in a weird cycle of events.

‘Exam’ has grabbed awards such as the AFI fest award which made the title qualified for the short film category of the 2021 Oscars.

The 35th Sundance Film Festival in the US also honored the flick’s star Sadaf Asgari with the Special Jury Award.

Scheduled to go on screen at several events, including the Tirana International Film Festival in Albania, Haddad’s work received a special mention at the 21st ShorTS International Film Festival in Italy and Best Short Award at the 42nd Créteil International Women's Film Festival in France.

The flick has also competed at many other film events, including the Landshut Kurzfilm Festival in Germany, the Annapolis Film Festival in the US, the Film Fest Sundsvall in Sweden, the Brattleboro Women’s Film Festival in the US, the Skepto International Film Festival in Italy, and the Loudoun Arts Film Festival in the US.

The CFF is going virtual for its 2020 edition - featuring a wide variety of documentaries, narratives, and student films.

The Charlotte Film Festival provides a cultural hub for established and emerging film-artists to showcase their works to the region's top producers, peers, investors, and viewers.

The CFF is committed to providing an environment that spotlights the next generation of local, regional, national, and international independent filmmakers.

The 2020 edition of the event is slated for September 23-27.
